Testing
How Does NRQPIC llc test an applicant’s skill level and knowledge base of ethical professionalism for the certifications offered?
First of all it is important to note NRQPIC llc certifications are not intended for individuals who are unsure of their fluency, ignorant of an interpreter’s role, or inexperienced, having never worked as paid interpreters for accommodation defined as “Qualified” by the ADA standards. For this reason the skills and ethics portions of NRQPIC llc’s “testing process” is quite different than some might imagine.
The Skills and Professional Ethics portions of our test are not written, not videotaped, not performed in front of a specially selected panel who will judge and decide whether candidates pass or fail these tests. The judges of our applicants’ skills and qualifications are the actual ADA protected individuals who have utilized each applicant’s interpreter services over our minimal requirements for time and earnings.
NRQPIC llc’s non-traditional methods examine, not only a few hours, a few days, not even a few weeks or months of an interpreter’s skill, professionalism and their practical use of ethical knowledge. NRQPIC llc believes examining the time-tested history of what has already taken place in the workplace every day the interpreter has worked for their NRQPIC llc approved endorsing agency is, while an unconventional testing method, the truest test of an any interpreter’s abilities.
Unskilled, unprofessional, unethical individuals who falsely present themselves as interpreters simply do not last long in our field.
Applicants should have already satisfactorily completed the “Skills and Professional Ethics” requirements portion of our certification within the past five years of their work as skilled and ethical interpreters for accommodation under the supervision of their NRQPIC llc approved endorsing organization! (A conversation with your employer will help you understand better if your organization participates in our program, and if your employer will favorably endorse your work history with them.)
It is NRQPIC llc’s policy that that the truest tests of an interpreter’s skills and ethical practices are time-tested through many successful interpreting placements serving to the ADA protected consumers of interpreting services satisfaction. NRQPIC llc’s goal in examining the history of client satisfaction is to recognize the vast importance of ADA protected choice without discrimination.
NRQPIC llc’s policy is the employer who has assigned and paid required minimums to an employee specifically for their interpreting work over minimally a two year period is well qualified to to “grade” the “test” of the work an individual has consistently provided over our specified term based on the ADA protected community’s response to the applicant’s provided services.
The TEST of interpreter skills for NRQPIC llc certifications is ultimately determined in answering the following question.
Has the interpreter served their community well, for more than 2 years, as a skilled, ethical, paid, professional interpreter for ADA accommodation?
The following factors are examined in the NRQPIC llc certification determination processes, not limited to:
1) REPUTATION
What is the reputation of the applicant in the community they serve? Has the applicant been fully-endorsed, without hesitation by an NRQPIC llc approved agency with a reputable history of staffing skilled, ethical interpreters for accommodation to their community?
2) SKILL
Has the applicant’s skill in all modalities they represent been acceptable as “Qualified” to the consumers of ADA protected interpreter services they’ve provided through their endorsing organization?
NRQPIC llc’s policy is the ADA protected consumer is always best qualified to say “This professional interpreter is qualified for me!”
Interpreters granted NRQPIC llc certifications have proven their qualifications interpreting for ADA protected individuals in the community they serve.

3) SUPERVISION
Has this interpreter worked under the supervision and guidance of an approved endorsing agency for a minimum of two years?
Supervision can occur at various levels. Supervision is a key testing point toward NRQPIC llc’s certifications.
An experienced staffing organization knows one style certainly does not match every need. An experienced organization can differentiate between a client reporting “This interpreter is not qualified for MY needs” and “The person your organization sent was inappropriate in every way!”
A respected staffing organization would always seek to provide the best services to the settings they staff.
An individual with a consistently poor skill and ethics history would not last long within any staffing organization. However, depending on the situation, such an agency might continue to very closely supervise, educate and groom such individuals with potential. In this case it is appropriate to withhold their organization’s endorsements for those individuals’ certification.
4) INCOME NRQPIC llc examines whether the pre-approved endorsing interpreting agency has reported income for the applicant to the IRS minimally $10,000.00/year for minimally two years within the past five years for income the applicant earned exclusively as an interpreter for accommodation.
(NRQPIC llc does not collect applicants’ social security information, has no desire to see or maintain applicants’ financial records. The $10,000.00 minimum for 2 of five recent years standard was intended to protect applicants’ privacy. The approved endorsing organization enters into a contract with NRQPIC llc and pledges via notarized documents to answer all certification questions honestly. The financial requirement verification portion of certification questionnaire is simply a “yes/no” option as to whether endorsing organization has reported minimal requirements of income to IRS for exclusively interpreting services provided by applicant on behalf of their organization.)
4) EVIDENCE of ETHICAL BEHAVIOR
Does the applicant have a 2+ year endorsed history of behaving as an ethical interpreter?
Any certifying organization can test an individual’s knowledge of professional ethics with a some kind of written, spoken or signed test. Usually such tests are less than a few hours in length.
Knowledge of ethics sufficient to pass knowledge-based testing is no guarantee the successful test-taker would behave according to the ethics they’ve studied.
NRQPIC llc’s practical requirements for endorsement demonstrate how faithfully applicants have actually behaved skillfully and ethically over a minimally two year working scenario worked to the satisfaction of the ADA protected community they have served under the supervision of their NRQPIC llc approved endorsing organization.
5) EXPERIENCE
NRQPIC llc certifications are not intended for hobbyists, entry level students of sign etc. etc etc. NRQPIC will only grant certifications to individuals who satisfactorily pass our requirements of proven skillful, ethical, and professional experience as a paid interpreter for ADA accommodation.
NRQPIC llc does not discriminate against any language of accommodation.
Who Ultimately Decides Which Interpreters Are Qualified?
NRQPIC llc, through the national certifications offered, truly empowers all consumers of ADA protected interpreter services to say “This Professional Interpreter is qualified for me!”
